Tourisme Ploërmel takes its name from a small French town and its subject from everywhere else. The name is the starting point — a regional station, a modest airport, an ordinary week in an ordinary month — and the destination is the rest of the map.
We publish destination guides, transport explainers, accommodation advice, event coverage and preparation notes. Not booking pages, not brochures. The work is to make a place legible before you commit money to it: how long it takes to reach, how many days it deserves, and which of its famous images are worth the queue.

Inspiration
Some Trips Begin With A Place. Others Begin With A Reason.
Sometimes the place comes first. Rio de Janeiro in the week before Carnival, when the city rearranges itself around the street bands. Kyoto in November, when the light gets low and the temple gardens turn. Reykjavík in the shoulder season, when the ring road is quiet and the weather is the itinerary.
Sometimes it is the reason that comes first. A long weekend that has to work from a Friday evening flight, so Lisbon makes sense. A festival with a fixed date. A wedding, a marathon, a season of light that only lasts three weeks. Paris because the train is easy, or because someone finally has four free days in March.
Both are legitimate ways to plan a trip, and both need the same information underneath them: how you get there, what a day actually costs, and how much of the place you can honestly see in the time you have.
