We configure analytics to minimise the personal information collected and we look at patterns rather than individuals. We do not use analytics data to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell it.

Cookie and analytics data is used to keep the site working, to fix problems, to protect against abuse, and to decide what to publish and revise next. A guide that readers open and abandon halfway usually has a structural problem worth fixing.

It is not used to make decisions about individual visitors, and we do not attempt to identify you from it.

Hosting, content delivery, newsletter and analytics providers may set cookies in order to deliver their part of the service. We do not permit them to use the data for their own advertising.

Pages that link out to airlines, rail operators or tourism authorities do not share your session with those sites, but once you follow a link, that website's own cookies and privacy policy apply rather than ours.

You can delete existing cookies and block new ones in your browser settings, usually under privacy or site data. Most browsers also allow you to block third-party cookies only, or to clear everything when you close the window, and all of them offer a private browsing mode.

Mobile browsers offer the same controls, generally under settings for the browser app rather than the device. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may break parts of this website, including navigation and forms.
