A Global Guide To Places, Journeys And Experiences
Careers
We hire people who plan trips well and write plainly.
How we work
A small editorial team supported by commissioned writers and photographers across several regions. Remote-first, with a registered office in Charleston, South Carolina.
Work is organised around subjects rather than output targets. An editor who looks after a region is expected to know it well enough to say what is not worth the detour, which takes time and reading as much as travel.
Open disciplines
Destination editors, practical-travel writers, photo editors and front-end product engineers. We keep a rolling list rather than posting seasonally, so a good pitch is worth sending whether or not a role is advertised.
For writers, the most useful specialisms are the unglamorous ones: rail networks, airline pricing, entry requirements, accommodation markets and travelling with constraints such as children, limited mobility or a very short window.
What we look for
Judgement rather than volume. We would rather read three pieces where you clearly decided what to leave out than thirty that cover everything.
Accuracy habits matter as much as prose. Writers who cite a timetable, check an opening season and flag what they could not verify are easy to edit and safe to publish.
Commissioning and rates
Most contributor work is commissioned per guide, agreed in writing before the work starts, with the scope, deadline and fee stated up front. Photography is licensed rather than bought outright unless we agree otherwise.
We do not ask for unpaid trial articles, and we do not publish contributed work without a byline.
How we edit
Expect a real edit. Structure is questioned, unsupported claims are pulled, and anything that reads like filler comes out. Writers who like being edited tend to enjoy working here; writers who want copy published untouched generally do not.
Deadlines are firm but reasonable, and we would rather move a publication date than run a guide that has not been checked.
Applying
Send a short note, a CV and three pieces of work that show judgement rather than volume. If you are pitching a guide rather than applying for a role, include the destination, the angle and the practical value to a reader.
Tell us where you have actually spent time. Regional depth is worth more to us than a long list of countries visited briefly.
Applications and pitches go to the editorial desk at the address below, and we reply to everything we can. Tourisme Ploërmel LLC, 2064 Sam Rittenberg Blvd, Charleston, SC 29407, US. Telephone +1 843-556-2063.
