A Global Guide To Places, Journeys And Experiences

Travel Support

We cannot rebook your flight, but we can tell you who can.

What this page is

We are a publication, not a booking service. Nothing on this website issues, holds or changes a ticket, a room or a tour, and the travel search area on the homepage is an interface prepared for a future integration rather than a live booking system.

What we can do is tell you who holds the obligation when something goes wrong, and what to have ready before you contact them. That is usually the difference between a resolved problem and a long afternoon.

Before you contact anyone

Have the booking reference, the name exactly as it appears on the reservation, the dates, and the route or property address to hand. If a payment is involved, note the amount and the card used.

Then decide who you actually have a contract with. If you booked direct, that is the airline or the property. If you booked through an agency or a platform, the agency controls the reservation and most changes must go through them.

Disrupted flights

Contact the operating airline first, because it holds the rebooking obligation. If you booked through an agency, the agency controls the ticket and must action changes, which is why direct booking is worth the small premium on a tight itinerary.

Ask specifically what you are being offered: a rerouting, a later flight, a refund, or accommodation. Get it in writing, keep receipts for anything you pay yourself, and note the reason given for the disruption, since compensation rules usually turn on it.

Accommodation problems

Raise the issue at the property before checking out and put it in writing. Platform disputes are far easier with a dated written record, and a photograph taken at the time carries more weight than a description written a week later.

If the room is not what was booked, ask for the alternative or the refund at the desk rather than after departure. Where a platform mediates, open the case while you are still on site.

Changes and cancellations

Changes and cancellations are governed by the fare or rate conditions you accepted at booking, not by anything published here. Read the conditions before you pay, particularly the difference between a non-refundable rate, a refundable one and a flexible ticket.

Where a provider cancels, you are generally entitled to a refund or a rerouting rather than a voucher, unless you choose the voucher. Ask which you are being given.

Lost documents

Report the loss to local police, then contact your country's nearest embassy or consulate for an emergency travel document. Keep the police report: airlines, insurers and border officials all ask for it.

A photograph of your passport, stored somewhere you can reach without the passport, shortens this process considerably.

Medical and emergencies

Use local emergency numbers first, then notify your insurer's assistance line as soon as you are able. Most policies require notification before or during major treatment rather than afterwards.

Keep the policy number and the assistance line saved offline, and confirm before departure whether treatment is paid directly by the insurer or reimbursed on return.
